Justin Bieber admits that he tested positA MTV acaba de revelar os nomeados para os VMAs 2025, a celebração anual que dá destaque aos artistas cujo impacto cultural e trabalho desenvolvido ao longo do último ano revolucionaram a indústria musical e geraram buzz global. O espetáculo será transmitido ao vivo para todo o mundo a partir de Nova York, na madrugada de 7 para 8 de setembro, domingo para segunda-feira, às 01:00 (hora portuguesa). A emissão arranca uma hora antes, diretamente do pré-show às 00:00.
Lady Gaga lidera os nomeados deste ano com 12 nomeações, procurando acrescentar galardões ao seu total de 18 vitórias nos VMAs. Nesta edição, encontra-se indicada nas categorias de Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, Best Album e mais. Esta é a terceira vez que Gaga encabeça a lista de nomeações, depois de o ter feito em 2010 (com 13 nomeações) e em 2020 (empatada em primeiro lugar com nove).
A artista é seguida de perto por Bruno Mars, com quem colaborou em Die With A Smile, e que conta com 11 nomeações. Kendrick Lamar (10 indicações), ROSÉ e Sabrina Carpenter (oito), Ariana Grande e The Weeknd (sete), Billie Eilish (seis), Charli XCX (cinco), e ainda Bad Bunny, Doechii, Ed Sheeran, Jelly Roll, Miley Cyrus e Tate McRae (quatro) fecham o topo da corrida aos galardões.
Entre algumas das curiosidades desta edição, destaca-se a disputa pelo maior número de vitórias de sempre nos VMAs, que continua entre Beyoncé e Taylor Swift, ambas nomeadas na categoria de Artist of the Year. A novidade deste ano é a introdução das categorias Best Country e Best Pop Artist.
Não sendo uma estranha nestas andanças, Rosé destaca-se entre os 33 estreantes na corrida aos VMAs, com oito nomeações pelo seu projeto a solo. Alex Warren e Gigi Perez receberam três nomeações cada, enquanto Damiano David conquistou a sua primeira nomeação a solo. Também com duas nomeações, encontramos Leon Thomas, Lola Young, sombr e The Marías. As artistas JENNIE, Jimin e JISOO também receberam as suas primeiras nomeações a solo.

Os nomeados para Song of the Year serão reduzidos a uma shortlist de seis finalistas no dia 18 de agosto às 17:00 (hora portuguesa), com a votação a decorrer até 5 de setembro, tal como nas restantes categorias. Os fãs poderão ainda ganhar votos adicionais para as categorias Video of the Year (apresentada pela Burger King®), Artist of the Year e Best New Artist: para tal, basta deixar o seu comentário nas publicações fixas na conta dos @VMAs no Instagram com as hashtags específicas de cada artista, até 8 de agosto às 23:00. Durante a Power Hour, promovida pela BACARDÍ®, os fãs recebem votos a dobrar em cada categoria todos os dias, entre as 18:00 e as 19:00, de 7 de agosto a 4 de setembro.
Os MTV VMAs têm sido um fenómeno da cultura pop há mais de quatro décadas, celebrando os melhores videoclipes do ano com performances históricas, tributos icónicos, momentos que definem gerações e as maiores surpresas protagonizadas pelas maiores estrelas do mundo. E os números revelam isso mesmo: os VMAs de 2024 alcançaram a maior audiência em várias plataformas dos últimos quatro anos (+25% face a 2023), tornando-se na edição mais comentada nas redes sociais da história do evento, com 66,7 milhões de interações.
A edição de 2025 regressa assim a Nova York com transmissão ao vivo em mais de 150 países a partir da UBS Arena na madrugada de domingo para segunda-feira, de 7 para 8 de setembro, às 01:00 (hora portuguesa), com o pré-show a arrancar uma hora antes. Durante o dia 8 de setembro, será possível rever todas as emoções na MTV Portugal: repetições do pré-show às 19:15 e do espetáculo principal às 11:00, 20:00 e 23:30.
